Driver in Death of a Bicyclist Gets Four Years in Prison

February 29, 2012 - According to reports the driver in the death of a bicyclist was sentenced to four years in prison.

According to authorities the driver that was identified as Danae Marie Miller in the death of a bicyclist was sentenced to four years in prison.

Miller pleaded guilty to driving while under the influence and driving while texting, when she struck Amine Britel age 41 of Newport Beach.

Orange County Superior Court Judge Craig Robinson sentenced Miller to four years in state prison for the February 21, 2011 accident.

According to prosecutors Miller drank at her workplace, the Zinc Café in Corona del Mar and then drove her 2008 Volkswagen Jetta, hitting Britel.

The accident occurred on San Joaquin Hills Road in the eastbound lane and after the crash Miller’s blood alcohol level was 0.10.
