Bicyclist Hit on Valentine’s Day in Irvine Dies From Injuries

February 15, 2012 - According to reports a bicyclist that was struck and critically injured Tuesday has died from the injuries. According to the Orange County Coroner’s Office officials the bicyclists has been identified as Christian Rhineer a 28 year old resident of Irvine.

Irvine Police Lt. Julian Engen said that the 28 year old bicyclist was struck at approximately 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of Von Karman and Michelson by the driver of a Volvo sedan. Lt. Engen stated that the driver, identified as a 26 year old remained at the scene and spoke with police. There have been no arrests or citations issued in the accident.

According to coroner’s officials Rhineer was transported to Western Medical Center where he died at approximately 6:30 p.m. They do not believe that Rhineer was wearing a helmet at the time he was struck by the Volvo. This was a public service message from the car accident attorneys Los Angeles.
