Bicycle Recall By California Company Specialized Bicycle Components Inc.

Specialized Bicycle Components Inc, of Morgan Hill, California has issued a recall on approximately 14,200 bicycles and was manufactured by Advanced Group of Taiwan. The name of the bicycles being recalled was sold at Authorized Specialized Retailers between June 2010 and August 2011, ranging in price from $700 to $2000. The name is Bicycles with Advanced Group carbon forks.

The recall was issued after there were reports that the brake component disengaged from the carbon fork. There have been no reports of any Injuries, according to Specialized Bicycle Components Inc.

The name Specialized will be found on the lower front frame tube and the model name will be located on the top tube.

The hazard causing the recall of the bicycles is due to a brake component that is housed within the bicycle’s carbon fork that can disengage from the fork. This can allow the brake assembly to come in contact with the wheel spokes, while the bicycle is moving, which can cause a fall hazard.

Consumer Remedy

Owners of the bicycles should stop riding them immediately and return them to the authorized Specialized retailer. There will be a either a free repair or a replacement of the carbon fork.
