San Bernardino Sheriff’s Detective Killed in Bicycle Collision

August 11, 2011 - According to reports a San Bernardino Sheriff’s detective was fatally injured while riding a bicycle in Irvine. According to authorities the San Bernardino Sheriff’s detective identified as Duane Parkison and resident of Irvine was fatally injured in a bicycle accident.

The accident involving the 15 year veteran of the sheriff’s department occurred on Wednesday while riding his bicycle in Irvine, he was struck by an SUV on Shady Canyon Drive. The collision occurred at approximately 1:00 p.m. in the vicinity south of Quail Hill Parkway.

The SUV identified as a Mercedes-Benz was traveling in the same direction as Detective Parkison. According to police and firefighters there were two bicyclists performing CPR on the detective, Parkison was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The woman driver of the Mercedes-Benz SUV, identified as a 35 year old and an infant in the vehicle were both uninjured during the collision.
