January 6, 2010 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports by bicycle lawyers in OC, a bicycle rider that was severely injured in a remote location in Orange County was transported by helicopter from the scene.
According to Capt. Greg McKeown of the Orange County Fire Authority stated a 19 year old bicycle rider sustained tramatic head and back injuries while trying to assist another rider. The cyclist crashed in the vicinity of Plano Trabuco Road and Dove Canyon Road, authorities were called from the scene of the accident at approximately 8:37 a.m.
According to Capt. McKeown the 19 year old male rider was riding with a female rider that crashed her bike going down a steep incline, the unidentified male went down the incline to assist the other rider when he crashed and was injured.
Emergency crews treated the man’s injuries at the scene until a helicopter with a basket lifted him out of the remote area. He was then transported by helicopter to Mission Hospital by the Orange County Fire Authorities Helicopter 1.

The female that crashed her bicycle was not injured and according to authorities both riders were wearing helmets. The female rider and injured rider were assisted by a third rider that was able to give authorities GPS coordinates to the scene of the accident.
